The First First Day

So, we picked up the RV in Glenn St. Mary’s, Florida.  Gary had lost his phone on the trip to St. Mary’s on Christmas Eve Day so we had only one phone.  This meant I drove with my phone on GPS to get us home, in Gary’s car, and he followed in the RV. It was kinda sad, our first drive and I wasn’t in the RV with Gary.

We drove to Smiths Station to our first site.

Austin, the owner is one of the kindest most chill people I have ever met.  Gary asked him if we would be okay without wooden blocks under the jacks since his spaces have been recently graded.  He didn’t think it would be a problem at all.

So we set the auto levelers and let the Rig do its thing.  If you have never been inside a Class A when the auto levelers drop, let me tell you, it is an experience!  But this was only the third time we had experienced it.  It seemed to take a little longer, but what did we know.

Then we hooked up the electric and the water and put out the sides.  Home sweet Home.

That is when I did a lap around the RV.  I looked under and was horrified to see the back passenger side jack had submerged about 6 inches in the dirt.

I called for Gary and Austin and showed them the jack that was sunk.  So we had to unplug the water and the power, pull the slides back in and re-position the rig.  Austin had some huge thick concrete squares that he went to pick up with his tractor and wagon.  They were so heavy I could barely lift one.  Austin and I worked to position them under where the jacks would drop and we tried it again.

This life is never going to be without adventure, that’s for sure!  But we will always remember our First First Day.
