Two Cracked Eggs Savannah Georgia

Right there on Bay Street in an old repurposed building, is a lovely spot for breakfast or lunch. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, something I have never before eaten. It was very tasty. Gary got the Philly cheese steak. Both sandwiches came with a bag of kettle chips. The sandwiches were loaded with meat and had great flavor. The staff was just lovely.

Leopolds Ice Cream

Savannah Georgia

The first place we are going to review is Arte Pizza in Brunswick, GA. We were there for lunch. We ordered the calzone - see the photo. Once we cut into it, she collapsed. The dough was so thin and the ingredients were amazing. Gary gave Arte Pizza a 12 out of 10. The service was great as well.

While on Amelia Island we decided to treat ourselves to lunch. It was payday, so why not!! We had zero destination in mind so stopped by the first place we saw, which was Sliders Seaside Grill. It was after 1:00 pm on a Friday afternoon but the weather was stunning and the place was jumping.

First, let me start with Ashton. Ashton was our waiter. He was in training but his trainer had seemed to abandon him so we were his first solo flight. He was wonderful. If you think of him, say a prayer, he is training to be a firefighter.

I ordered the Feel Good Power Bowl with the shrimp as my protein. Gary ordered the small plate of “Fried Chicken Pot Stickers” and he also ordered an appetizer of Fried Pickles. Gary loves fried pickles. He has had them a few places and he said these were the BEST fried pickles he has had. I LOVED my Power Bowl. There were so many colors and textures and flavors happening. It was also a huge amount of food. I finished it, I shared quite a few items with Gary (his favorite were the roasted red peppers) and I didn’t eat again until 8:00 pm. So filling and so wonderful. Gary enjoyed the pot stickers. Can we just take a minute to recognize that my husband tried something new and different?? HUGE! The bill was more like a dinner bill than a lunch bill but we did order an appetizer, tip well and NOT eat again that day….so it was essentially dinner.

Additionally, there were some musicians just starting when we were leaving.

The outdoor seating was lovely as well.

Highly recommend!!

Captain Stan’s Woodbine, GA

Ever find that little out of the way spot that only the locals know about? Daniel and Madison got us a gift certificate to Captain Stan’s for Christmas once they knew we were staying in Woodbine, GA. Captain Stan’s is an outdoor BBQ restaurant/bar. I ordered the Holy Bowl - it is a layered bowl of baked beans, Boston butt and coleslaw. I also got a side, I chose the collards. I don’t make collards and always appreciate some good collards. The waitress gave a resounding recommendation. Gary ordered the Soul Bowl which is layered lima beans, smoked chicken and collards. His came with a side of Texas toast. We received a lovely dish of salted dry roasted peanuts which was a particular treat given the penchant for boiled peanuts in the South. I will be honest, when the meal I arrived I was concerned about the portions. It was enough food for me, but I wasn’t sure about Gary. He did finish his meal and ordered the salted caramel cheesecake so he did not walk away hungry. We are old people so we got in and out prior to the live music, but I am sure that was a lovely experience as well. The outdoor space is comfy and super chill, our waitress was darling, and the food was yummy! The collards were spot on! BONUS: Dinner was literally less than $30.00. You will be hard pressed to find that anywhere even for lunch! I would definitely recommend this eatery if you are in the area. But make sure the weather is good!

Sometimes all you need is a good ice cream parlor and it makes all the difference in the world. Anyone who knows my husband knows he loves his ice cream. In addition to yummy treats with quippy titles, they also have a lovely selection of hard ice cream by the scoop, sundaes and milkshakes. There is also a game room with air hockey and some old school video games - mini versions of arcade games. You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. I highly recommend a stop at Alien Treats if you are in the Kingsland area. “There’s always room for ice cream.”

If you need to wait in line, WAIT. It is worth the wait. This place has been around since 1919 and you can see why. They have old standbys but also seasonal and creative flavors using local flair. I had the Honey Almond Cream. The honey came from Savannah Bee Company. It was so good. Gary got the Caramel Swirl and the one bite he shared was divine. It was a warm afternoon, so a staff member came outside with a tray of little cups of ice water. Ice Water! Served to you on the street. That is service! All of the staff was friendly and courteous. There photos of famous people who have visited Leopolds, if you are into that sort of thing. I had the recommendation of a co-worker, that was good enough for me! If you are in Savannah, this is a must.
